Privacy Policy
Mochi (“we”, “us”) is a private sweet-face emoji studio. This policy explains what information we handle.
Information We Process
- A local profile created when you continue into the app on this device, including your display name and avatar.
- Selfies, sweet-face looks, captions, notes, and voice memos you create. These stay on your device and are not uploaded to a Mochi server.
- Face Data is not collected. If a photo you provide includes a face, that image is ordinary photo content and is handled as described under Face-Related Photos.
- Sweets balance stored on this device for consumable sticker unlocks, HD export, and Replay tools.
- Purchase receipts processed by Apple for in-app consumable Sweets packs.
- An Apple Push Notification device token if you allow notifications, stored on this device for push registration.
Face-Related Photos
Mochi may process photos you choose that show a face (for example, a selfie from Camera or Photos). This face-related content is limited to ordinary images you provide for creating decorative sweet-face emoji looks.
Face Data: Mochi does not collect Face Data. Face Data means data about a user’s face such as facial maps, face mesh data, face geometry, Face ID templates, or TrueDepth scans. A selfie or imported photo that happens to include a face is ordinary photo content you provide. Mochi does not create, store, or transmit Face Data, and does not use any photo to identify you.
- What we do not collect: Mochi does not collect Face ID data, TrueDepth data, biometric face templates, facial geometry meshes, or face scans. Mochi does not perform facial recognition, face matching, identity verification, or biometric analysis.
- How we use it: Face-related photos are used only on your device to crop, apply looks, place stickers, add a caption or voice note, save a look, export to Photos, or share through the system Share sheet when you choose those actions.
- Where it is stored: Selfies and saved looks are stored locally in Mochi’s private app sandbox on your device. They are not uploaded to a Mochi server and are not synced to Mochi cloud storage.
- Sharing: Mochi does not sell face-related photos and does not share them with third parties for advertising, analytics, or model training. A look leaves the app only if you export it to Photos or share it yourself.
- Retention: Face-related photos and looks are retained on your device only while you keep them in the app. Because Mochi does not keep a server copy, there is no separate server retention period.
- Deletion: You can delete an individual look from Home. You can also use Delete Account in Me, which removes local studio data on this device, including saved looks, selfies stored by Mochi, and related voice notes.
How We Use Information
We use this information on your device to operate Mochi: capture or import a selfie, apply looks, place stickers, save looks, record a voice note, export to Photos, and complete Sweets purchases.
Device Permissions
- Camera — used to capture a selfie for a sweet-face emoji when you tap Camera.
- Microphone — used to record a voice note on a sweet-face look when you tap the microphone.
- Photo Library (read) — used to place your selfie on the canvas or set your studio avatar when you tap Photos or Album.
- Photo Library (add) — used to save a finished sweet-face emoji into Photos when you tap Export HD.
- Notifications — optional reminders after you allow notifications following Continue.
- App Tracking — Apple’s tracking prompt after you tap Continue. If allowed, Mochi may use a device identifier to measure sweet-face emoji creation features. Declining tracking does not block create, save, or export.
Declining a permission only disables the related feature. The rest of the studio still works.
Sharing
We do not sell personal information. Looks you create remain on this device; they are not shared with other Mochi users over the network. Mochi does not upload your selfies or looks to Mochi servers. If you export or share a look, that is a voluntary action you take using Apple system features (Photos or the Share sheet).
Retention and Deletion
Local studio data, including selfies and saved looks, stays on this device until you delete a look or use Delete Account in Me to clear local Mochi data. Purchase handling remains subject to Apple’s systems. We do not maintain a separate Mochi server archive of your looks.
